Resum

This research focuses on the phenomenon of urban vulnerability and its concentration in specific areas of cities, analyzing the main processes that trigger it, such as social exclusion, spatial segregation and urban decay. The most important theoretical approaches in scientific, normative and institutional fields are reviewed, and an empirical study to the city of León is carried out. The key indicator in this work to identify urban vulnerability in this work will be the incidence of a specific type of aid: the granting of social benefits by social action centers in the period 2017-2020. A mixed inductive-deductive methodology is applied, using both qualitative and quantitative techniques, highlighting theoretical review and empirical study for the case of León, with fieldwork as a fundamental technique to generate information not avalaible in conventional sources. The results obtained will allow a deeper understanding of urban and social inequality in León, its causes and the current problems defining the picture of vulnerability in this city. In addition, some results may serve to guide the actions of public and private entities with responsability for urban governance. Finally, this research aims to serve as a reference to delve into complementary aspects and deepen this line on the city and its social challenges.
