Résumé

This article will analyze the illness of female characters in three works by Enchi Fumiko: Onna No Fuyu (1939), Los años de espera (2011), and Máscaras femeninas (2012). One of the common factors in Enchi Fumiko’s works is the depiction of women suffering from physical and cognitive deterioration, caused by conflict with male characters. Therefore, the chapter will discuss how the characters function as a symbol of the oppression received by women in the context of a patriarchal society.
