Résumé

The city of A Coruña and its surroundings were not battlefeld during the War of Succession, but they had the function of supplying the Bourbon armies, collaborating the city and its province with the constitution of regiments, economic aid, and provisions. In the year 1710 there were very bad harvests, in addition to grabbing grain for the army of Felipe V, also emerging an epidemic outbreak. These events were studied by María López Díaz and the Military Health Doctor, doctor, M. Parrilla Hermida. This paper explores the demographic series that comprise from 1700 to 1714 studying in a singular way the incidence related to the mortality levels of the year 1710, quantifying them and putting them in relation with the previous and subsequent years. Finally, an incursion is made on another territory of the south of the Galician Country (Santa Mariña de Sela - in the old province of Tui) to compare the events that occurred in the area of A Coruña with that territorial space that borders Portugal.
