Council Regulation (EU) 2019/1111 (Brussels IIb Regulation) replaces Regulation (EC) No 2201/2003 (Brussels IIa Regulation) as of 1 August 2022. The name given to this instrument, which expressly includes in the title “and on international child abduction”, gives an idea of the direction of the amendments made, responding to the needs identified in the previous information, social, academic and forensic research operations. These amendments are analysed and compared.
