Abstract

Federico Fellini is the filmmaker about whom the most has been written, and continues to be written. This is corroborated by the Federico Fellini Archive on the website of the Municipal Cineteca di Rimini. Of particular note is the biography written by Tullio Kezich in 1987 or the texts, mostly of a semiotic nature, such as those by Fabbri in 2011, 2013 and 2016, those analyzing feature films, created by Canga in 2004 and by Pérez in 2021, or even publications that relate psychology to art based on his works, such as the manuscripts by Canestrari in 1998 and 2011. However, documents on his filmography around short films are, so far, scarce. Detecting this lack, this article offers a focused exploration of the short fiction stories made by Fellini throughout his career. We approach this case study from a descriptive methodology and content analysis in order to delve into the director’s modes of construction, to observe his authorial styles, noting the imprint of his personal experience on his cinema in the form of short films, and we will also focus on the use of language in his short films.
