Abstract

This article analyzes the role played by the regular clergy in the conflicts in which the Castilian nobility was immersed during the Late Middle Ages. These responded to various typologies, the most frequent being the intervention of religious people in intra-family conflicts, many of them the result of the distribution of inheritances. They also participated in the problems and disputes that arose between two lineages, within the cities and in some conflicts involving members of the nobility and the monarchy. The large number of religious of the Order of Saint Jerome stands out to whom the nobility entrusted various tasks, mainly as mediators, judges, arbitrators, delegates and witnesses, without disdaining the assignment of other tasks.
