Abstract

The relevance of Rafael Dieste a writer is well known, but his facet as illustrator is not. In theearly 20th century, Dieste worked closely with Abelardo Gallego, professor at the Veterinary Schoolsof Santiago de Compostela and Madrid. This contact between both entailed an excellent symbiosis thatwas reflected in some magnificent graphic representations of Gallego's samples that have been usefulfor the study of Veterinary Histology and Pathological Anatomy. The aim of this work is to analyse in more detail the artistic contribution of Dieste to VeterinarySciences, at a time when Santiago Ramón y Cajal also stood out as a draftsman of his ownhistological specimens.
