Doctor by the Universidad de León with the thesis Modelización de la solvencia bancaria en España y Europa a partir de pruebas de estrés 2015. Supervised by Dr. Cristina Gutiérrez López, Dr. María Jesús Mures Quintana.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from the University of León, a University Certificate in Public Statistics from the University of Seville, and a PhD from the University of León, awarded with the distinction ‘cum laude’ and an exceptional doctoral award in the field of Social and Legal Sciences. Since 2000, I have been a lecturer, holding various contractual positions, in the field of Statistics and Operational Research at the University of León (ULE), attaining the rank of Associate Professor in this field in 2017. Since September 2023, I have been a Associate Professor in the field of Quantitative Methods for Economics and Business at the ULE. I have taught on various diploma, bachelor’s, undergraduate and master’s programmes at the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies at the University of León, in subjects related to statistics applied to economics, business, marketing, finance and insurance. In 2015 and 2025, I received Teaching Performance Certificates from the University of León, with an overall rating of ‘very favourable’ for the period 2009/10–2013/14, and ‘excellent’ for the period 2019/20–2023/24. I am also a member of the teaching innovation group on Economics, Communication and Art (EComArte). With regard to my research activity, which has been positively assessed in two six-year evaluation cycles (2018 and 2025), my various lines of research fall within the field of Quantitative Methods applied to Economics, Business and Environmental Sustainability: - Modelling and forecasting bank solvency: Use of advanced statistical and econometric techniques on variables and ratios from financial statements to model the risk of bank insolvency and predict the results of regulatory stress tests. - Formulation of composite indicators: Design of composite indices for the measurement, categorisation and multidimensional analysis of human development and quality of life. - Econometrics of performance, business dynamics and public policy: Application of regression models and causal inference to assess the factors determining success or survival within the business sector. - Assessment of the energy-emissions-water-food security (EEWFs) nexus and ecological-economic life-cycle analysis (LCA): Empirical quantification of environmental pressures using LCA in agricultural sectors and the application of energy metabolism metrics, within the framework of the EEWFs nexus, to directly evaluate the economic return and efficiency of production systems. I am also a member of the Applied Economics Research Group (GIEA) and co-author of over 40 publications that have received more than 1,500 citations on Google Scholar, of which around twenty are indexed in the JCR or SJR. As regards individual university management posts, I served as Academic Coordinator for the Dissemination of ICT (Vice-Rectorate for Technological Innovation) between 2004 and 2008, Chair of the Teaching and Research Staff Committee (2015–2023), Secretary and Head of the Department of Economics and Statistics (2011–2018 and 2018–2024, respectively) and, since June 2024, I have held the post of Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs. A member of the CRUE Teaching Sectoral Commission since March 2025, I have been Executive Secretary of its Executive Committee since June 2026.
