The present work is an investigation about Ortega y Gasset¿s Metaphilosophy, a topic which has not been sufficiently studied despite its enormous impor tance. The idea of Philosophy is the most important idea in his system, because it is the first thesis which all the others are deduced from, and because it has an intimate connection with the ideas of Spain and Europe. Once Spain europeanised by Phi losophy, Ortega devotes himself to 're-europenise' Europe in order to get it out of the crisis.
