Abstract
The objective of this paper is to analyze the internal variables that originate the competitiveness of small and medium enterprises in the state of Hidalgo, in function of the age of the companies and variables that are related to corporate culture and competitiveness. A survey was applied to 564 employees of 19 small and medium enterprises. The results show significant differences between old, fairly old companies and of recent creation, as well as the existence of a relationship among them.
