Abstract
This paper aims to provide an overview of the collaborative project Spanish in a day, the first online video contest for Spanish FL learners worldwide. In the first place, we will describe the key elements when designing the contest (rules, goals, categories and assessment criteria). Subsequently, we will focus on the new features of the 2nd edition, in particular those dealing with the parallel contest for underage students and with the instructional design of a MOOC, based on selected videos of the 1st edition. Lastly, conclusions drawn from data analyses will be addressed in relation to the following aspects: student participation and feedback and the production of a documentary film featuring video clips from all contestants. Keywords: video contest, new technologies, MOOC.
