Resumo
The Salamanca Statement (1994) and, recently the World Conference of Inclusive Education (2009), set the basis of inclusion associated to education. Experts in the field have disseminated inclusive practices in schools and communities that show that teaching in a heterogeneous environment with students with diverse needs is a difficult task that is not fully addressed during teacher training. In this regard, inclusive education can be an useful tool to facilitate it. During 2008 and 2009 we have been working in a project to train teachers for inclusion, together with two universities of Costa Rica. Likewise, in order to transfer this experience to other contexts, we are developing a new training project, with which we intend to move towards inclusive education in Dominican Republic.
