Abstract

Every film liable to be analysed can be considered as a model of reality. And every movie –or any good film– is a document of our own psyche, of the fantasies that constitute our subjectivity. To illustrate this hypothesis, we have chosen as object of study the film “The”, of Luis Buñuel, shot in Mexico in 1953. Our main goal is to make a textual analysis, taking into account the theory of the “functions of language”, of the ‘poetic’ content of the movie, discarding other linguistic functions, the scientist and the ideological; considering that the image has to be thought as an essential component of language.
